The InMotion Healthy Life Style Coaching Program is aimed to help people improve their level of fitness and health through exercise, education in a number of health related topics and helping people make healthy choices.

 

Anyone can benefit from improving their health in this client centered one-on-one approach. This program is particularly beneficial for:

  • People with a desire to improve their overall well being by making healthy lifestyle changes,
  • People with significant stress or anxiety in their lives,
  • People with depression,
  • People overcoming an injury or illness.

The program structure:

  • Intake assessment (3 hours). This is a one-on-one interview with the Healthy Life Style Coach to gather pertinent information regarding their current daily routines, diet, and occupation. 
  • A standardized fitness Assessment is conducted which will be used in developing program goals as well as a benchmark for the purpose outcome measures. 
  • An intake report will be sent to the referral source describing the specific program goals.
  • 10 one-on-one sessions with the Healthy Lifestyle Coach over a 10 to 20 week period. This involves a one hour session per week, conducted at the client’s home, InMotion Health Centre, or in the community, depending on the particular session. (10 hours)
  • Discharge Assessment (3 hours). This involves discharge planning for the client so that the healthy lifestyle habits and routines that have been learned over the course of the program are continued. 
  • A standardized fitness test is conducted which will be used for comparison to the results of the initial assessment. 
  • A discharge report will be sent to the referral source describing goals achieved, outcome measures of improved fitness level, and any recommendations that may be beneficial.

 

Meet our Healthy Lifestyle Coach:

 

Dr. Duane Button is an Assistant Professor at the School of Human Kinetics and Recreation, Memorial University. His educational background includes a Bachelor of Kinesiology, Master of Physical Education and a PhD in Physiology. He is also a Certified Exercise Physiologist and Certified Personal Trainer. Dr. Button has a very strong background in fitness leadership, exercise physiology, personal training, and rehabilitation. Currently, he is a fitness consultant/Kinesiologist with InMotion Health Centre, offering services as a Healthy Lifestyle Coach.
