The Rehab Team Assessment Program (RTAP) has been developed by InMotion Health Centre for the employers and third party payers of Newfoundland and Labrador.

 

The RTAP endeavours to save money for companies by identifying injured persons at high risk for developing a chronic condition early in a claim and by focusing interdisciplinary professional expertise on difficult or chronic cases that lack clear diagnoses or treatment plans.

 

The unfortunate truth is, sometimes an injured worker can become ‘lost in the system’. When an injury requires assessment, diagnosis and treatments from multiple sources, the treatment plan can become complicated and frustrating for all parties involved. The care of injured persons with complex and interactive health, social, and functional needs is best achieved when the knowledge and skills of various health disciplines are shared and integrated. Multidisciplinary, collaborative health care is an effective means to plan, coordinate, and implement care of injured persons.

 

The format of the InMotion RTAP involves a three-day assessment by a core group comprised of chiropractic, physiotherapy and occupational therapy professionals.  These professions are represented in the core group because of their respective prominence in the treatment of soft tissue injuries. 

 

For those cases that just don’t ‘fit the mold’, the RTAP is also a convertible program that can be individually tailored to involve a more comprehensive assessment involving the core group and a number of additional professionals in the areas of Medicine and/or Psychology.
